We recommend staying on the mountain to make your holiday stress-free. No need to drive, just wake up and meet at the village for a great day on snow! If you stay close enough, you can go back and change your socks or have a rest over the 2h lunch break!
Where can I eat?
-
Groceries available for delivery at Save On Foods. They deliver on the mountain daily; order your groceries a day ahead and they will be dropped at your door or your hotel front desk.
-
If you go grocery shopping in Vernon, our local favourite grocers are Butcher Boys at the bottom of the hill (20-minute drive from SilverStar Village, and they sell Dutchmen Dairies Eggnog!) and Eat Good Market (a local, organic grocer).
-
Many restaurants available on the mountain, including The Red Antler and The Den Restaurant and Bar (who do our wonderful buffet lunches). For a special supper option, check out Black Pine Social (above the Red Antler) for a classy dining experience and D’argento above The Den (pasta is their specialty). Low-key options include The Bulldog, Pizza Gratta, and Long John’s (a resort staff favourite).
-
Coffee shops include The Town Hall (open early!) and the legendary Bugaboo’s Bakery Cafe (now with new owners)
-
New this winter, we have Bear Bites Food Truck (south American street food)
How do I get there?

Kelowna Airport Shuttles: book with Kelowna Concierge (info@kelownaconcierge.ca; 250-863-4213) for a shuttle to SilverStar from the Kelowna airport. A 24h advance is required for a reservation, but give them a call if you need a last-minute reservation!
-
Rent a car and drive up.
-
About half of our guests bring a vehicle and half do not; it comes down to personal preference. Once you are on the mountain, you’ll be on skis, and we’ll take care of shuttling between SilverStar (our home base) and Sovereign Lake Nordic Centre for the days we ski there.
Where can I rent equipment or where are the Nordic Ski shops?
-
The Village Ski Shop (info@villageskishop.ca; 250-558-4292) is located right in SilverStar Village and carries skis, poles, boots, and clothing from most of the major Nordic ski brands. An amazing selection if you need something fresh for your season! They have a demo fleet for Supercamps participants. Limited availability applies so contact them ASAP!
-
Sovereign Lake Nordic Centre offers a rental fleet if you need classic, skate, or you are having equipment trouble while we are there. They also sell iconic Sovereign toques and the best après-ski cookies and soups.
-
Stussi Sport (stussisport@shaw.ca; 250-542-4141) is your premier Nordic ski shop, serving the community since 1975. They carry skis, poles, boots, and clothing from diverse ski brands, and are located at the base of the mountain.
-
Rentals are available HERE. We recommend bringing your own boots for maximum comfort, but this makes it easy to travel!
-
I will be taking my skis on a plane. Any advices?
-
Most airlines treat your ski bag as a regular oversized item. Some count it as sports equipment. Check with your airline to be sure as each one tends to have a slightly different policy.
-
Invest in a good ski bag that is large enough for your skis and poles. Both soft ski bags and hard cases tend to work just fine.
-
Pack your skis well, especially the tips and tails! If you are tight for space, you can use painter’s tape to tape your skis to each other (side walls next to each other, bindings facing outwards) to reduce shifting. Be sure to remove Klister and sticky waxes before traveling!!! Put your poles in a pole tube, or inside foam pipe insulation to protect the shaft. You don’t want your poles bent or snapped during travel.
-
Next your tips and tails in soft layers – extra jackets, towels, whatever you can use to pad your fragile ski ends just in case.
-
Pack your boots and one set of ski clothes in your carry-on. If your luggage is lost, you want to be able to ski in comfort! Don’t let travel delays ruin your camp experience!
Should I carry food & water during the Camp?
-
Bring a water belt or some way to carry water when you are skiing. Being well-hydrated keeps you warmer, lets you ski faster and with more focus, and is generally just good for your health. Drink early, and drink often! Bonus if you have space for snacks and hand warmers or an extra neck tube, just in case.
